10 Apr – Exmouth to Broome

10 April 2017

Tim and Harry are 2 of our most regular returning Barra fishermen and this time they decided to swap their barra sticks for some blue water action and do the trip up the coast from Exmouth to Broome. They bought along with them renowned whiting and tommy rough fisherman Phil Plummer.

The trip provided a huge contrast from the typical muddy Kimberley water they were used to and produced a wide variety of blue water species. Harry was able to tick both Black Marlin and Sailfish off his fishing bucket list. Phil and Tim also caught a couple of Sails each and Tim another Black Marlin. We missed out on catching a Blue Marlin only having a few strikes along the way.

A quick dive just north of Exmouth produced some nice Ornate and Painted Crays and a good selection of reef fish were caught to be enjoyed for dinner. After a long steam from Monte Bello’s to Rowley Shoals the group enjoyed some switch baiting for Sailfish, some nice walks on the sand cay and some popper fishing. A great warm up for their upcoming Kimberley Charter.
